Can Drugs Like Progynova and Zyhcg Effect Pregnancy?

Fertility is the natural capability of a living being to produce an offspring. Many factors can effect your chances to get pregnant, drugs being one of them. Drugs can be used to treat infertility as well as to delay the process of fertilization. In this blog we look into drugs Progynova and Zyhcg and their effect on human fertility.

Progynova 2mg

Progynova 2mg contains the female sex hormone, estradiol valerate as the main component. It is usually used as hormone replacement therapy in postmenopausal women to suppress the perimenopausal syndrome and also used as oral contraceptives.

Side effects: common side effects of Progynova include headache, breast pain, nausea and bloating.

Effects of Progynova on pregnancy: Estrogens are commonly used for contraception and is also effective in heavy menstrual bleeding.  It inhibits the release of follicle-stimulating hormone from the pituitary, which further inhibits the development of the dominant follicle. This, in turn, potentiates inhibition of the luteinizing hormone, without which ovulation and pregnancy cannot occur.

Progynova has not shown any risk of birth defects in babies who were born to women who inadvertently took this medication during early pregnancy. Nevertheless, it is contraindicated during pregnancy. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) classifies drugs for their safety in pregnancy into A, B, C, D and X. Progynova is classified in the X category (contraindicated drugs) as it has a high risk of adverse effects on the fetus with use in first trimester.

Zyhcg Hp

The primary component of Zyhcg Hp injections is Human chorionic gonadotropin. This hormone is obtained from the chorion of the fetus and is the first molecule synthesized by the embryo. It is used to treat infertility issues in both men and women and also delayed puberty in children

Side effects: some of the common side effects of this injection include bloating, stomach pain, pelvic pain, nausea, breast enlargement and insomnia. Rare side effects include, headache, allergic reactions and weight gain.

Effects of Zyhcg Hp on pregnancy: It has been found beneficial in women who are still in the reproductive phase, but are unable to conceive due to hormonal issues. Infertility in males due to lack of specific hormone secretion can also be helped by this drug. Along with stimulation off progesterone and estrogen release, it also increases the formation of blood vessels. By promoting increased amount and flow of blood vessels Zyhcg ensures sufficient blood flow between maternal placenta and developing fetus for adequate nutrition. Overall it is involved in many processes ensuring the smooth progress of a pregnancy. Due to its so many benefits during pregnancy, it has been considered as a treatment option for recurrent miscarriages. However, future studies are required to confirm its benefits in these situations.

During pregnancy, a woman’s body undergoes various hormonal changes naturally. These medications may have severe adverse effects and can do more harm than good to the mother and the child if not used properly. Hence, these medications should only be used under the supervision of a certified doctor.
